9 Valentine's Day Ideas You've Never Thought Of

If you're reading this, that means you survived the post-traumatic stress from paying holiday bills, and the champagne hangover from New Year's Eve. Congrats. You've lived to see another Valentine's Day, also known as, Single Awareness Day, and Oops I Forgot to Buy Something Day. Since the day is almost upon us, here are some ideas that are neither cheesy, cliched nor crazy expensive on how to celebrate -- or avoid celebrating -- the day.

With something for everyone, from those single to mingle, in a relationship to married with kids, Ever After Proposals has got you covered this Valentine's Day!

You'll like these ideas if you like to gift heart shaped chocolates...

  • You'll never think of Hershey Kisses the same way again once you visit the Chocolate Spa at the Hotel Hershey. Their "Everything Chocolate" package, aptly named, is for the chocolate aficionado in your life. If the Whipped Cocoa Bath and Chocolate Fondue Wrap make you hungry, then perhaps you're better suited for the next idea on the list.

  • Give Shari's Berries a break and instead of buying chocolate covered strawberries, make them! With multiple classes like Ecole Chocola and Voila Chocolat to choose from, right in the heart of NYC, why not try this aphrodisiac the handmade way?

You'll like this idea if you believe the two cliches: 1) a way to a man's heart is through his stomach and, 2) diamonds are a girl's best friend...

  • This is one guilty pleasure that doesn't need to "stay in Vegas." Portofino at the Mirage in Las Vegas offers a one-of-a-kind culinary experience with its exclusive "Diamond and Gold" Lasagna. While it's price exceeds the average cost of lasagna, this isn't your average lasagna.

You'll like this idea if you like to be spontaneous...
  • While Uber may provide ease and convenience in getting across town, nothing beats getting behind the wheel and hitting the open road. With tools like Road Trippers and Furkot, you can literally plan your trip as you go.

You'll like these ideas if you like to relax and sleep...

  • If your idea of bath time these day consists of a yellow duck and bubbles, then let your inner child come out and play at the Aire Ancient (thermal) Bath for grown-ups. And if you're worried this is going to put you to sleep, then read on.

  • Picture this: you're fully disrobed, laying under a sheet, listening to Enya's soundtrack while the scent of eucalyptus candles fills the room, a pair of warm yet firm hands slowly rub the tension away from your body. And then BAM, time's up. Time to get dressed and go home. Wouldn't it great if you could keep the music playing a bit longer, have the candles burn a bit longer, and remain relaxed -- and naked -- a bit longer too? Now you can with at-home massage services offered by the likes of Zeel and Soothe which provide on-demand masseuses.

You'll like this idea if you like to drink and multitask...
  • Remember all those nights you felt guilty drinking all that beer because of those calories? Yeah, me neither, BUT if you're the type to reach for the Skinny Girl, then this just might be what your personal trainer ordered. With these "pedal-powered beer bike pub crawls" popping up all over the country, from Austin to Nashville to California, you'll be able to "drink and drive" like a true rebel.

You'll like these ideas if you're lonely and ready to make new friends...
  • While the idea of binge watching Netflix and binge eating in the comfort of your PJs sounds very cozy (and I don't blame you), don't let lack of company stop you from going to out eat or hike or even go sightseeing. With services like EatWith (the AirBnB for home-cooked food), you can grab a chair and binge eat with a stranger instead. But if you're ready to ditch the indoors for outdoor activities -- from playing pool to going to the pool -- then you'll find a buddy in Smacktive

  • Give "flying solo" (literally) a whole new meaning by flying high at a trapeze class, such as the ones offered coast to coast from New York to Seattle. All you need is a pair of comfortable clothes, the courage to climb up a tall ladder, and the desire to fall into a stranger's arm who's willing to catch you. After all, it's Valentine's Day.

Love is in the Air -- NYC Marriage Proposal

When Cory and Nicole decided to take a trip to the Big Apple from Louisiana, they had decided one thing for sure: go big or go home. What Nicole didn't know, however, was just how "big" this trip was truly going to become.
Cory reached out to Ever After Proposals two months prior to their expected arrival to New York City to begin planning the perfect proposal. He wanted to ensure the proposal captured the essence of NYC and its world famous skyline. Cory and I brainstormed a variety of ideas that incorporated New York landmarks and events -- from rooftop proposals to broadway plays -- but none of them caught Cory's attention until I mentioned a private chartered helicopter tour over NYC. Given Cory's background in aviation (he's a certified pilot), it was the perfect idea but there was just one minor problem: Nicole wasn't a fan of flying.
Luckily, Cory was able to convince her so we set the plan in motion:  the couple arrived at the helipad at their scheduled time of departure. As soon as they were airborn, the Ever After Proposals team prepared the runway for landing by spelling out "Nicole Marry Me" which would be visible upon their descent. Just as the pilot was approaching the runway, he pointed the couple out NYC's newest and a very special landmark...

As soon as the couple exited the helicopter, Cory got down on bended knee and asked her the question that had been lingering in air. Then they popped the champagne and took a private limo to Tao Uptown to continue the celebration with their family and friends.
